About this package

Fever lasting more than two to three weeks often has a less obvious cause, and tuberculosis is one of the commonest in India. This panel includes the QuantiFERON-TB Gold test, an interferon-gamma release assay that detects TB infection from a blood sample. The liver and kidney panels and urine routine look at the organs, ESR and CRP at inflammation, and malaria and Widal exclude the common acute infections. A positive IGRA means that TB infection is present, but it cannot say whether the infection is active. Your doctor will decide on a chest X-ray and other investigations.

An advanced work-up for prolonged fever, including a TB test: IGRA, liver, kidney, urine, ESR, CRP, malaria and Widal.

What does this package cover?

The 9 tests are grouped into 6 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 3 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

  • ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)

The rate at which red blood cells settle in a vertical tube over 60 minutes.

Liver 1 test

Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.

Kidney & electrolytes 1 test

How well your kidneys filter waste, plus the salts (electrolytes) they keep in balance.

  • Kidney Function Test

Blood urea/BUN, serum creatinine, eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate), uric acid, sodium, potassium, chloride, and calcium.

Infections 2 tests

Screens for common infections such as hepatitis, HIV, syphilis, dengue, malaria and typhoid.

Urine 1 test

Routine urine analysis for infection, sugar, protein and kidney clues.

  • Urine Routine & Microscopic Examination

Physical characteristics (colour, clarity), chemical markers (protein, glucose, ketones, blood, pH), and microscopic examination for cells, crystals, casts and bacteria in a urine sample.

Other tests 1 test

Additional tests included in this package.

9 tests included (76 parameters)

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with fever for more than two weeks, night sweats, weight loss or persistent cough, particularly with a TB contact.

How often should you get it done?

Once for a first assessment. Another round is only worth it if something in this report needs tracking.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC), CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)
  • Liver - Liver Function Test (LFT)
  • Kidney & electrolytes - Kidney Function Test
  • Infections - Malaria Antigen Test and Widal Test (Typhoid)
  • Urine - Urine Routine & Microscopic Examination
  • Other tests - QuantiFERON - TB Gold (Interferon - gamma release assay (IGRA)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • For the urine test, a first-morning, mid-stream sample in the sterile container we provide is best.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

What does a positive QuantiFERON test mean?

It shows that your immune system has met TB bacteria. It does not distinguish latent infection from active disease, so doctors also use a chest X-ray, sputum tests and symptoms.

Is it affected by the BCG vaccine?

No. Unlike the skin test, the IGRA is not affected by BCG, which makes it more specific in India where most people are vaccinated.

How should I prepare?

Fast for eight to ten hours if possible for the organ tests, with water allowed.
