About this package

Fatty, bulky, foul-smelling stools can come from the intestine or from the pancreas, which supplies the enzymes for digesting fat. This panel tests both: TTG IgA with total IgA for coeliac disease, and amylase with lipase for pancreatic problems. The liver function test and CRP add liver and inflammation context, and vitamin B12 and the blood count show whether absorption or anaemia has been affected. When the cause of malabsorption is unclear, this combination helps your doctor decide whether the next step is a gut biopsy or a pancreatic work-up.

A coeliac panel that also checks the pancreas and liver: TTG IgA, total IgA, amylase, lipase, liver function, CRP and B12.

What does this package cover?

The 8 tests are grouped into 4 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 2 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

Liver 2 tests

Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.

  • Immunoglobulin A (IgA)

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is a blood test. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) measures an antibody (immunoglobulin) level in the blood. It helps assess immune function and is used to investigate frequent infections, allergy, autoimmune disease and some blood disorders.

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.

Vitamins, bone & minerals 1 test

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Vitamin B12

    Serum vitamin B12 (cobalamin) concentration.

Other tests 3 tests

Additional tests included in this package.

  • Amylase

Amylase is a blood test. Amylase is a diagnostic laboratory test carried out on a blood sample. Your doctor may advise it to screen for, diagnose or monitor a related condition, with results reported against standard reference ranges.

  • Lipase

Lipase is a blood test. Lipase is a diagnostic laboratory test carried out on a blood sample. Your doctor may advise it to screen for, diagnose or monitor a related condition, with results reported against standard reference ranges.

  • Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (TTG)

IgA antibodies against tissue transglutaminase, an enzyme targeted by the immune system in coeliac disease.

8 tests included (44 parameters)

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with greasy or floating stools, weight loss, upper abdominal pain, or long-standing digestive symptoms without a clear explanation.

How often should you get it done?

Once for investigation. If anything is flagged, your doctor may advise a follow-up test within a few months.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC) and CRP (C-Reactive Protein)
  • Liver - Immunoglobulin A (IgA) and Liver Function Test (LFT)
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Vitamin B12
  • Other tests - Amylase, Lipase and Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (TTG)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

What do high amylase and lipase mean?

They usually indicate pancreatic inflammation, especially when markedly raised and with pain. Lipase is the more specific of the two.

How is pancreatic malabsorption different from coeliac disease?

In coeliac disease the intestinal lining is damaged, and in pancreatic insufficiency the enzymes that digest fat are lacking. Both can cause fatty stools, and the antibody and enzyme tests help separate them.

How should I prepare?

Fast for eight to ten hours with water allowed, and avoid alcohol for a few days beforehand.
