About this package

This panel adds the pancreas and liver to the basic gut check. Amylase indicates pancreatic problems and the liver function test looks at the liver, so symptoms that could come from any of the three organs, such as upper abdominal pain, nausea or bloating, can be sorted. The stool tests and H. pylori antigen look at the stomach and bowel. The blood count rounds it off. It is a good middle choice for recurring complaints that have not settled.

A standard gut health panel: H. pylori antigen, stool routine, occult blood, amylase, liver function and a blood count.

What does this package cover?

The 6 tests are grouped into 3 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 1 test

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

Liver 1 test

Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with recurring abdominal discomfort, nausea or bloating, and those with a history of gallstones or fatty liver.

How often should you get it done?

Once for assessment. Any further testing will be selected by your doctor after reading the result.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Liver - Liver Function Test (LFT)
  • Other tests - Amylase, Helicobacter Pylori Antigen detection by - Stool, Stool for Occult Blood and Stool Routine

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • For the stool test, collect a small sample in the container provided, avoiding contact with urine or water.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Which symptoms suggest the liver rather than the stomach?

Discomfort under the right ribs, nausea, loss of appetite, or yellow eyes point more toward the liver and bile ducts than the stomach.

How should I prepare?

Fast for eight to ten hours for the blood sample, with water allowed, and bring the stool sample.

Can fatty liver cause symptoms?

Often not, but it can cause fatigue and a feeling of fullness. It is usually found through raised liver enzymes or an ultrasound.
