About this package

Yellow eyes and skin come from a build-up of bilirubin, and the cause can lie in the liver, the bile ducts or the blood. This panel looks for the viral causes with markers for hepatitis A, B, C and E, and uses liver function to see the pattern of enzymes and bilirubin. PT/INR shows whether the liver is still making clotting factors, which matters for how serious the illness is. Persistent or deepening jaundice, confusion or bleeding needs urgent medical assessment.

An advanced jaundice evaluation: hepatitis A, B, C and E markers, liver function, clotting and a blood count.

What does this package cover?

The 7 tests are grouped into 4 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 1 test

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

Liver 1 test

Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.

Blood clotting 1 test

Checks how well and how quickly your blood clots.

  • PT INR(PROTHROMBIN TIME)

PT INR(PROTHROMBIN TIME) is a blood test. PT INR(PROTHROMBIN TIME) evaluates how the blood clots. It is used to investigate bleeding or clotting tendencies and to monitor blood-thinner therapy.

Infections 4 tests

Screens for common infections such as hepatitis, HIV, syphilis, dengue, malaria and typhoid.

  • Anti HCV (Hepatitis C Antibody)

The presence of antibodies against the Hepatitis C virus in the blood.

  • Anti Hepatitis A Virus (ANTI HAV) - IgM

Anti Hepatitis A Virus (ANTI HAV) - IgM is a blood test. Anti Hepatitis A Virus (ANTI HAV) - IgM is part of liver assessment. It helps detect inflammation, fatty liver, hepatitis and other conditions, often before symptoms appear.

  • Anti Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) - IgM

Anti Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) - IgM is a blood test. Anti Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) - IgM is part of liver assessment. It helps detect inflammation, fatty liver, hepatitis and other conditions, often before symptoms appear.

  • HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen)

The presence of Hepatitis B surface antigen, a protein found on the surface of the Hepatitis B virus.

7 tests included (43 parameters)

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with yellow eyes or skin, dark urine, pale stools, itching or nausea.

How often should you get it done?

Only during illness, and repeated to follow recovery.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Liver - Liver Function Test (LFT)
  • Blood clotting - PT INR(PROTHROMBIN TIME)
  • Infections - Anti HCV (Hepatitis C Antibody), Anti Hepatitis A Virus (ANTI HAV) - IgM, Anti Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) - IgM and HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Is jaundice always hepatitis?

No. Gallstones, blocked bile ducts, blood cell breakdown and medicines also cause it. The pattern on liver tests and an ultrasound help sort it out.

What should I eat when I have jaundice?

Light, freshly cooked, low-fat meals and plenty of fluids are usually advised. Avoid alcohol and unprescribed medicines and follow your doctor's guidance.

How should I prepare?

Fast for eight to ten hours with water allowed if you can manage it, but do not delay testing when you are unwell.
