About this package

Anaemia has two broad routes: not enough raw material, such as iron, or a body that locks iron away because of chronic inflammation. This panel looks at both. The blood count and iron studies describe the anaemia, while CRP and ESR measure inflammation that can hold iron in storage and lower haemoglobin even when intake is fine. Vitamin D is added because deficiency is very common alongside anaemia and tends to go unnoticed. If the inflammation markers are high, your doctor will look for the underlying cause, which may be an infection, a joint disease or a gut condition, rather than simply prescribing iron.

Checks whether low haemoglobin is linked to inflammation and a vitamin D gap: blood count, iron studies, ESR, CRP and vitamin D.

What does this package cover?

The 5 tests are grouped into 3 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 3 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

  • ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)

The rate at which red blood cells settle in a vertical tube over 60 minutes.

Iron & anaemia 1 test

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Iron Studies

Serum iron, TIBC, UIBC (unsaturated iron-binding capacity), transferrin saturation percentage, and ferritin (the body’s iron-storage protein).

Vitamins, bone & minerals 1 test

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Vitamin D (25-OH)

25-hydroxyvitamin D (the combined D2 + D3 form), which is the most accurate indicator of overall vitamin D status in the body.

5 tests included (33 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • 5 laboratory investigations in one booking
  • Looks at 3 health areas together, not in isolation
  • All samples collected in a single home visit
  • One price, one report set
  • Useful for preventive screening, or when your doctor wants these tests together
  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with anaemia who also have joint pain, frequent infections or a long-term illness, or whose anaemia has not improved with iron tablets.

How often should you get it done?

Once to sort out the cause, and then a repeat of haemoglobin after treatment as your doctor advises.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC), CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)
  • Iron & anaemia - Iron Studies
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Vitamin D (25-OH)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Why does inflammation cause anaemia?

During long-term inflammation the body holds iron in storage, so less reaches the bone marrow. This is called anaemia of chronic disease, and it does not respond well to iron alone.

How is CRP different from ESR?

CRP rises and falls within days, while ESR changes slowly over weeks. Having both shows whether inflammation is recent or long-standing.

Do I need to fast?

A fast of eight to ten hours is advised for accurate iron readings, with water allowed. Do not take iron tablets that morning.

What if only my vitamin D is low?

Low vitamin D is very common and treatable. It is usually corrected with a supplement that your doctor selects and re-checks after a few months.
