About this package

Most thorough in the iron series, this panel asks why iron is low as well as how low. Beyond iron studies, the smear, reticulocytes, CRP and ESR, it adds a liver function test, because the liver stores iron and makes the proteins that carry it, a thyroid profile since an underactive thyroid can mimic or worsen anaemia, and vitamin B12. The broad set avoids a common trap: treating iron deficiency repeatedly without finding why it keeps coming back. When the nutritional and metabolic causes are out of the way, your doctor can focus on blood loss, absorption problems or other medical causes.

A full iron-deficiency work-up that adds liver, thyroid and B12 to the iron, inflammation and smear tests.

What does this package cover?

The 9 tests are grouped into 6 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 3 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

  • ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)

The rate at which red blood cells settle in a vertical tube over 60 minutes.

Iron & anaemia 2 tests

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Iron Studies

Serum iron, TIBC, UIBC (unsaturated iron-binding capacity), transferrin saturation percentage, and ferritin (the body’s iron-storage protein).

  • Reticulocyte Count

The percentage or absolute count of reticulocytes - red blood cells that are less than a few days old.

Liver 1 test

Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.

Thyroid 1 test

Thyroid hormones and antibodies - an under- or over-active thyroid affects weight, energy, mood and heart rate.

  • Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)

Total/Free T3 (triiodothyronine), Total/Free T4 (thyroxine), and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone, produced by the pituitary gland to regulate the thyroid).

Vitamins, bone & minerals 1 test

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Vitamin B12

    Serum vitamin B12 (cobalamin) concentration.

Other tests 1 test

Additional tests included in this package.

  • Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is a blood test. Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is used in the work-up of anaemia to understand blood-cell production and iron status.

9 tests included (50 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • 9 laboratory investigations in one booking
  • Looks at 6 health areas together, not in isolation
  • All samples collected in a single home visit
  • Costs ₹1,392 less than booking the tests separately
  • Useful for preventive screening, or when your doctor wants these tests together
  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People whose iron deficiency keeps returning, whose haemoglobin does not improve with treatment, or who have other symptoms such as weight change, low mood or abdominal complaints.

How often should you get it done?

Once as a deep investigation, with repeat tests chosen by your doctor.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC), CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)
  • Iron & anaemia - Iron Studies and Reticulocyte Count
  • Liver - Liver Function Test (LFT)
  • Thyroid - Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Vitamin B12
  • Other tests - Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a liver test part of an iron panel?

The liver stores iron and produces the proteins that carry it. Liver disease can change iron and ferritin results, so the liver panel helps your doctor read them correctly.

What does thyroid have to do with anaemia?

An underactive thyroid slows red cell production, causing a mild anaemia, and it also causes tiredness. Treating the thyroid can improve haemoglobin.

Do I need to fast?

Yes, eight to ten hours. Water is fine, and you should hold iron tablets that morning.

If iron keeps falling, what else will my doctor look for?

Possible ongoing blood loss such as heavy periods or gut bleeding, poor absorption, for example coeliac disease, and increased needs such as pregnancy. This panel rules out several non-gut causes first.
